Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Workshop Technician to support the preparation, maintenance, and turnaround of rental laptops. The primary focus of the role is ensuring devices are correctly configured, cleaned, tested, and ready for deployment at the start of contracts, and efficiently processed when returned.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare rental laptops for deployment, including:
- Installing and configuring operating systems and required software
- Applying updates and ensuring devices meet company standards
- Asset tagging and documentation
- Process returned laptops, including:
- Data wiping in line with company security procedures
- Cleaning and physical inspection of devices
- Diagnosing and reporting faults or damage
- Perform basic hardware tasks such as:
- RAM and SSD upgrades
- Battery checks and replacements
- Peripheral setup (chargers, docking stations, etc.)
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Device status and location
- Work completed and any issues identified
- Assist with stock management and organisation of workshop space
- Support general workshop and IT tasks as required
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Basic understanding of computer hardware and Windows operating systems
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to follow processes and checklists
- Strong work ethic and reliability
Desirable:
- Previous experience in an IT, workshop, or technical role
- Familiarity with laptop imaging or deployment tools
- Basic troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
